Pace’s Community and Volunteer Mobilization AmeriCorps program is a unique service learning opportunity that looks great on the resume, helps the community, allows for professional and personal growth and helps pay for school. The program recruits members to commit 450 or 900 hours over the course of one year to serve at community-based organizations in downtown Manhattan and Chinatown.

Example opportunities include
•Assisting in-school and after-school programs for elementary schools students,
•Tutoring high school students,
•Teaching English to adults,
•Providing research support to museums and cultural organizations,
•Training the public in public health and disaster preparedness issues.

Members also have the opportunity to be trained in skills relevant to their service, and to attend workshops on themes such as leadership, community building, conflict resolution, and professional development.

Members receive a bi-monthly stipend of $89.50 for 450 hours of service (10-15 hours per week), with an education award of $1250 upon successful completion of their service hours. Students receive a bi-monthly stipend of $178.50 for 900 hours of service (15-20 hours per week), and an education award of $2362 upon successful completion of their service hours.
